Collaborate Quickly with Chat

Chat is a collaboration feature for talking with members of the same space in real time and turning what matters into notes, workboard items, or events right away.

Turn On Chat

1. Click your account picture in the top-right and open Settings.
2. Choose the Labs tab.
3. Turn on the Chat switch.
4. If Chat does not appear in the icon bar on the left, refresh the page.

✋ Note: Chat is a Labs feature that has not been officially released yet. It may change or be discontinued.

Open Chat

1. Click Chat in the icon bar on the left. On mobile, tap it in the bottom bar. If it is not there, find it in More.
2. Choose a conversation from the list or start a new chat.
3. Type a message and click Send.

💡 Tip: Create named channels for each topic to make conversations easier to find and organize later.

Start a New Chat

1. In the chat sidebar, click New chat.
2. Search for the people you want to talk with by name and select them. Only members of the same space appear.
3. Click Start chat. If you select several people, it becomes Start group chat.
4. If you need a named room, choose Create channel from the ▾ next to New chat and enter a Channel name.

Turn Conversations into Work

1. Hover over the message you want to move. On mobile, press and hold the message.
2. Choose Save as note, Save to workboard, or Create event.
3. Check details such as the title, assignee, due date, and date and time.
4. Click the matching button to save: Create note, Create task, or Create event.

💡 Tip: From the same menu, you can also add a reaction or Reply. On mobile, you can also Copy text.

Frequently Asked Questions

I do not see Chat.

Chat is a Labs feature. Turn on Chat in Settings › Labs and refresh.

The person I am looking for is not in the list.

You can only chat with people in the same space. First add that person as a member of the space.

Can I create workboard items or events right from Chat?

Yes. Choose Save to workboard or Create event from the message menu.
