Search and Open Hymns

Hymnal is a tool for finding hymns by number or title, viewing sheet music and lyrics, and listening to recordings.

Open a Hymn

1. Click the Hymnal icon in the icon bar on the left.
2. Click a hymn in Hymn list or Categories in the sidebar.
3. The number, title, and sheet music open on the right.
4. To see the lyrics, click the Lyrics tab. To go back to the sheet music, click the Sheet music tab.

💡 Tip: Adjust the size of the sheet music with Zoom in and Zoom out, and the lyrics with Larger text and Smaller text.

Search by Number or Title

1. Click the search field at the top.
2. Enter a hymn number or part of the title.
3. Click the hymn you want in the search results.
4. Clear the search to return to the full list.

💡 Tip: Number search is fastest when you are preparing for a service. If you are not sure of the exact title, enter just part of a word.

Use Favorites and Tags

1. Open a hymn and click the Add to favourites button above it.
2. Reopen your favorite hymns from Favorites at the top of the screen.
3. Use Add a tag above the hymn to add tags such as 'Christmas' or 'Offering'.
4. Click a tag under Tags in the sidebar to see only the hymns with that tag.

✋ Note: Playing hymn recordings uses data. We recommend using Wi-Fi.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I find a hymn if I only know its number?

Yes. Enter the number in the search field to find the hymn with that number.

There are no search results.

Search looks only at numbers and titles. You cannot search by lyrics, so try part of the title or the number.

I do not see the lyrics.

The sheet music opens first. Click the Lyrics tab above the hymn. Some hymns may not have lyrics data.
